Fix Bonjour Application Service Error on Windows PC
If you encounter a Bonjour application service error on your Windows 11/10 PC, follow the solutions mentioned in this post to resolve the issue.
- Check the status of the Bonjour service
- Open Apple apps in clean boot
- Configure the registry
- Repair the Apple program
- Reinstall all Apple apps
Let’s talk about them in more detail.
1]Check the status of the Bonjour service
The very first thing you need to do to solve this problem is to check if the Bonjour service is running. In case the service itself is stopped, we are going to start it manually and configure its properties. To do the same, open Services application from the Start menu. Now search Bonjour Service, right-click it and select Properties. Change Startup type to Automatic and click on the Start button (if it is stopped). Finally, check if the issue is resolved.
2]Open Apple apps in clean boot
You may experience this problem because of a third-party application, some users reported that MalwareBytes stopped their access to Apple services, while some of the reported Bonjour Service errors happened because of VPN. Since we’re not sure which app is the culprit, performing a clean boot is the only reasonable option. So, go ahead and boot into Clean Boot and then check if the issue is resolved. If the problem persists, turn on the services one by one to find the culprit. Once you find out which app is causing the problems, just uninstall it and your problem will be solved.
3]Configure the registry
If you see “The registry entry is set to the wrong file path (Program Files instead of Program Files (x86))”, then you need to adjust the registry to solve the problem. However, before making changes to the registry, first create To do the same , open it registry editor, click on File > Export and then save the registry file with a name in an easily accessible location.
After creating the backup, open the registry editor again and navigate to the following location.
Now double click on Image path and change the file path C:\Program Files\Bonjour\mDNSResponder.exe to C:\Program Files (x86)\Bonjour\mDNSResponder.exe.
Finally, restart your computer and check if the issue is resolved. Hope this solves the problem for you.
4]Apple App Repair
A Bonjour Service error will occur if the program you are trying to access is corrupted. And since it’s not uncommon for a program to get corrupted, there’s a built-in utility to fix them. We are going to do the same to solve the problem. Follow the prescribed steps to do the same.
- Open Settings from Win + I.
- Go to Applications > Installed applications.
- Find the app you want to restore.
> Windows 11: Click on the three vertical dots and select Change.
> Windows 10: Select a program and click Change.
- Choose Repair and click Next.
Finally, follow the on-screen instructions to repair the program.
5]Reinstall all Apple apps
If all else fails, the last resort is to reinstall all Apple apps from your computer. This will do the job if the apps are damaged beyond repair. So, uninstall the apps. Finally, reinstall them and see if the issue is resolved.
You will be able to solve the problem by using the solutions mentioned in this post.

How do I restart Bonjour in Windows?
You can easily restart Bonjour by restarting the Bonjour service. To do the same, open a Service manager or Services in the Start menu, search for Bonjour service and click Restart. It will take some time to stop and start the service, so be patient.
Do you need the Bonjour service?
The Bonjour service is redundant if you don’t use Apple services. In fact, the service is not pre-installed on your system and is only installed when you install any Apple products such as iTunes. So, if you are a user of Apple services, completely remove Bonjour from your Windows computer.
